Connections Plus Programs and Services

Connections Plus offer the various care options, programs and services below:

Community Access

Support for people living with disability to participate socially and economically in their community.

Utilising the fabulous local area of the Bega Valley Shire, this service includes outings to the beaches at Merimbula, Tura Beach, Pambula and Eden, lots of fun at Merimbula's Magic Mountain, engaging with wildlife at Potoroo Palace as well as games of mini golf, ten pin bowling, bingo and visits to Pambula swimming pool. This service is also planned to tie in with other events happening in the community such as music events, festivals or other recreational activities.

Assistance with Daily Activities

Assistance with and/or supervising of personal tasks of daily life, such as personal hygiene, cooking and shopping to enable the participant to live as autonomously as possible.

These supports are tailored individually to participant needs and can be in a range of environments, including but not limited to the participant's own home.

Short-term Accommodation

Short-term accommodation with up to 24-hours per day support, including assistance with daily personal activities, food and negotiated activities.

Typically this support would be used for short periods of up to 14 days at a time.

Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is the assistance with and/or supervising tasks of daily living in a shared environment, with a focus on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible.

The support is provided to each person living in the shared arrangement in accordance with their needs. SIL does not include rent, board and lodging or other day to day usual living expenses such as food and recreation or capital costs associated with a participant's accommodation .

Host Family Support

A "host" family provides support as needed or on a regular scheduled basis.

This care may be provided in the home of the host family, or in the service user's own home.

This support is based on volunteer assistance with expenses reimbursed.

Cottage Respite

High quality support for frail, older people (65 years and over or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) to maximise their independence at home and in the community for as long as they choose or are able to do so.

This program delivers support through planned respite activities which allows carers to take a break from their usual caring responsibilities.
